Faculty of Dentistry

Background:
The Faculty of Dentistry Library was established in 2009 on the Faculty premises, with a small number of books donated by the University's Central Library. This unit is managed under the direct supervision of the Faculty's Vice Chancellor for Education.
The library operates in a 120-square-meter area as a work section.
Objectives:
- Providing services: Librarians are responsible for providing the best possible services to all library visitors to ensure that the collection is timely, accurate, and complete.
- Collecting, maintaining, and organizing written and non-written materials and resources for use in education and research
- Identifying the needs of the academic community and providing facilities and meeting needs
- Cooperating with other libraries of medical universities in the country
Regulations:
1- The following groups can become members of the library:
- Working faculty members, dental students, official and contract employees, and researchers are allowed to use the library resources in the reading room upon presenting a valid identification document.
2- Number of members and book loan period:
Total number of active members as of September 2025: 438
Number of faculty members who are members of the library: 50
Faculty members: 10 volumes and one academic semester
Students of dentistry: 4 volumes and 15 days, twice extended
Staff: 3 volumes, 15 days, once extended
* The loan period for frequently used or textbook books may be reduced at the discretion of the person in charge of the loan department and according to the current library policy.
3- Book extension and reservation:
If the referrer needs more time than the specified period and there is no other request for that book, the loan period will be extended again through the librarian.
4- Fine for late return of the book and compensation for damage to the book:
The borrower is obliged to return the book to the library by the due date. In case the book is lost, the borrower is obliged to purchase the same book and return it to the library. If the borrower damages the book (tearing the cover or pages, marking and staining them), he is obliged to compensate for the damage according to the opinion of the library manager.
5- Settlement:
All dental students must obtain a settlement form from the library after graduation or in case of withdrawal, leave, or transfer. Faculty members and employees are obliged to obtain a settlement form from the library in case of termination of employment (resignation, transfer, scientific mission, retirement, or leave of more than 3 months).
6- Regulations
- When borrowing a book, it is mandatory to present a membership card, and the book will only be given to the owner of the loan card.
- Reference books and theses can only be used in the library hall and cannot be loaned out.
- The head of each educational group can borrow 10 volumes of Persian and Latin books for one academic semester for use in the group and return the books to the library at the end of the semester. The responsibility for maintaining these books lies directly with the group manager.
- The library can request the borrower to return the resources at any time, and the member is required to return the requested book to the library as soon as possible.
- The head of the library, with the approval of the vice president of education, closes the library for 30 days each year at the end of the academic semester and during the summer holidays for shelf reading and evaluation of the collection. During this period, no books will be loaned out. However, members can return the borrowed books to the library.
- Only the borrower is responsible for the borrowed materials to the library, and no excuses will be accepted in the event of problems.
- Donation of unnecessary and duplicate books that are not needed is done at the discretion of the library supervisor.
Working hours:
Working hours are determined and announced based on need and according to the opinion of the Deputy Director of Education. And for now, it is from Saturday to Wednesday from 8 am to 3 pm and is closed on Thursdays.
